MISTA 2017: Workshop (Tuesday 5th Dec 2017)

We are delighted to announce that MISTA, for the first time, will be hosting a workshop. This is available to all MISTA delegates, as part of their registration fee. We are also opening up the workshop to those who would like at attend, and just pay the day delegate.

We are excited by this workshop as it gives those intending the opportunity to hear from world leading researchers who are attending MISTA.

We have two streams for these workshops. The details below (they are subject to change, but we hope the schedule is pretty much confirmed). You are welcome to switch streams as the day progresses.

This workshop will look at EventMAP's successful journey that's taken their research work in optimisation algorithms from research to full commercialisation.

15:30 to 17:00 Airline Crew & Fleet Scheduling Per Sjögren The airline industry has many scheduling problems where optimization may be applied. This is a well-established research area within academia, and the industry has for a long time applied optimization techniques and software to solve many of these problems.

11:45 to 12:30 Be more organised and efficient when writing papers Professor Graham Kendall In this workshop we will look at some of the ways that researchers can be more organised so that the process of writing papers can be done more efficiently.

13:30 to 15:00 Social Media for Researchers Professor Graham Kendall This workshop will look at various social media platforms and how they can be used to promote the work of researchers. It will draw heavily on practical examples from the presenter.

15:30 to 17:00 Panel Session: Meet the Editors Professor Jacek Blazewicz
and
Professor Graham Kendall
This session will be a Question and Answer session, where the panel will comprise colleagues who have editied (either as as Associate Editor or as an Editor-in-Chief) so that you can learn from the people that actually handle the papers you submit.
